Last week saw Treasurer Rita Saffioti hand down Labor’s final budget before Western Australians head to the election in March 2025.

At a time when Western Australians are suffering under severe cost of-living stress, a housing and health crisis, this budget was an opportunity for Western Australians to reap the rewards of record royalty windfalls and a Federal Liberal GST deal.

Instead, the Cook Government proved once again that they are out of touch with the reality of everyday Western Australians, deepening the divide between the government’s agenda and the public’s needs.

When crime is up 20%, ambulance ramping 430%, the priority housing waitlist by 230%, family and domestic violence by 45%. It reflects the fact that Western Australia is worse off thanks to this government.

It is time for a new government.

We have a clear vision for the people of Western Australia that is focused on the priorities that matter.

We will fix the health system crisis that has been percolating under two failed Health Ministers.

We will overturn the terrible decision by this government to move the new Women and Babies Hospital to Murdoch because we will always prioritise the advice of clinicians and health experts.

We will drive down crime and ensure the devastating morale issues plaguing the force are addressed so we have more police working the beat.

Our bail and parole reform policies send a clear message that under a Liberal Government, criminals will feel and fear the full force of the law.

We will ensure the community is safer with regards to family and domestic violence, we will pass the legislation as a priority, and require people subject to a violence restraining order to wear a tracking bracelet to keep the community safe.

We will prioritise the health and safety of our children, ensuring there is a standalone Department of Communities to look after our state’s most vulnerable kids, whittle down the waitlist for children to see a pediatrician and ban puberty blockers.

Red and green tape will no longer plague Western Australian industry.

We will ensure that approvals aren’t a multi-billion-dollar handbrake on our economy at a time when diversification of industry must be urgently addressed.

This is abundantly clear in our decision to lift the moratorium on uranium mining.

A Liberal government will fix the hospital crisis, back our police officers, manage debt, give our children access to vital health services, clear the backlog of major project approvals, lift the handbrake on job creation, build the houses we need, and do something meaningful to address the cost-of-living crisis.

We will use every single day until the election to highlight our priorities and ensure Western Australians know that only a Liberal Government will deliver for them.

WA Deserves Better isn’t just a campaign slogan – it’s a clear message that only a Liberal Government will address the challenges faced by Western Australian families.
