This week saw yet another shameless attack on regional Western Australia by the Cook Labor Government.
Horizontal Falls has for generations, been a low impact bucket list item for Western Australians and international tourists alike. An iconic tourism hotspot in the stunning Kimberley region, Horizontal falls provides many local jobs and $15 million a year to the local economy.
Despite all of this, the Cook Labor Government has decided to put a stop to Western Australians accessing this important destination, and by doing so, ignored the interests of many local small businesses and tourism operators.
All of this begs the question – If we don’t save Horizontal Falls then which natural WA attraction is next?
We know this Government is capable of gross overreach - think back to the disastrous Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act.
It was only with your support that we were able to get that disastrous legislation overturned. Help us do it again!
Sign our petition and send a clear message to Roger Cook and WA Labor that Horizontal Falls must remain open.
LIFTING URANIUM BAN
Last week I was proud to announce that a Government that I lead will overturn the WA Labor Government’s 2017 ban on future uranium mining leases.
The WA Liberal Party has a long and proud history of enhancing and pioneering the powerhouse that is the Western Australian resources sector. Uranium mining presents a truly unique opportunity to position Western Australia as pioneers in the energy and resources sector.
After a decade of missed opportunity, uranium prices are rising rapidly as demand continues to grow for uranium. Western Australia, with its vast uranium reserves, has a once in a lifetime opportunity to create jobs, strengthen our economic security and shape our states future.
It was the Barnett Government that first lifted the ban on uranium mining, a move that would have introduced thousands of additional jobs into WA’s resources market if Labor hadn’t overturned the decision when coming into government.
A Liberal Government I lead will seize the opportunities to create wealth, jobs and prosperity for Western Australia.
WA LABOR - SOFT ON CRIME
When Labor first came to office in 2017, they talked a big game on law and order. They announced a $244 million meth action plan. Sadly in the last 12 months alone, the use of meth in our communities and on our streets has exploded by 40%.
Similarly, in 2020, WA Labor announced they would grow the police force by over 950 officers above attrition. In the last 4 years, we’ve seen the complete opposite, a mass exodus of police, with nearly 1000 officers resigning.
At a time when violent crime also is out of control, up 40% since this Government took office, WA Labor has failed to keep Western Australians, their businesses, their families and communities safe.
It’s clear that Roger Cook’s soft on crime approach simply isn’t working. WA deserves better.
