Plenty has been said about WA State Election 2025 and no doubt plenty will continue to be said.
When we subscribe to democracy, we accept the outcome it delivers.
We are no doubt fortunate to be in a society where changes of government take place by scribbling a bit of ink on a piece of paper every four years.
Not everyone around the world is as lucky as us.
Our ultimate focus now must be on the future.
While this result was not what we all worked so hard for, there are clear positives for us to build on.
Across the state, we've seen significant swings towards us, particularly in outer suburban and regional areas where families are feeling the pressure of rising cost of living.
This tells us something important.
We are connecting with everyday Western Australians.
We must keep building on this momentum.
We know that state politics is about delivering essential services.
Hospitals, schools, roads, bridges and police stations — these are the basics that Western Australians expect our State Government to get right.
Yet we’ve seen time and again that third term governments do tend to get complacent and wasteful.
And that inevitably leads to the erosion of trust in the eyes of the public.
Our job is to be ready when that moment comes, and it will.
Across the country, we are winning elections.
Tasmania, the Northern Territory and Queensland have all seen victories for our side.
Federally too the momentum is with us.
This isn’t a national challenge we face.
It’s one specific to Western Australia and we’re well-placed to overcome it in the next four years.
This was always going to be a tough election given how far back our primary vote had shifted over 2017 and 2021.
Yet we managed to come out of this campaign with so many positives.
We have won more seats than we previously held.
That gives us more staffing allocations and capacity to be the Opposition instead of the Nats.
The significant swings we have seen in the outer suburbs will remain an inspiration to form government in 2029.
These positives are entirely attributable to the thousands of our incredible party volunteers involved in various campaigns.
Every person who gave up their time to provide advice on policy development, stand at polling booths, wave signs, attend campaign events, knock on doors or donate their hard-earned money, you are the backbone of our party.
Your dedication to our cause is what keeps us strong and for that, we’re deeply grateful.
While this campaign has ended, the fight has not.
Federal Election 2025 is on the horizon and we’re in a strong position to win it.
No doubt, we will be ready to contest the 2029 State Election and give Western Australians a viable alternative to what, by that stage, will have been a stale third term government ready to retire.
This is a long road ahead.
We will walk it together.
Let’s stay united.
Let’s stay engaged.
Let’s keep working towards victory. Thanks.
