Our Leader Peter Dutton is correct. Following the divisive Voice referendum and the unprecedented level of anti-Semitism on our streets during the last 14 months, we need to revive our national unity.
We should stand up for who we are, for our values, and what we believe in.
We are united as a country when we gather under one flag.
We will continue to stand in front of our one national flag.
The weak Prime Minister wants to be all things to all people. When he stands in front of multiple flags, he sends a very confusing message.
No other country asks people to identify with different flags. To do so is to divide our country unnecessarily.
REAL ACTION TO ADDRESS THE ANTI-SEMITISM AND EXTREMISM CRISIS
After more than a year of inaction and weakness from the Albanese Government on the growing anti-Semitism and extremism crisis facing Australia, the Coalition if elected to Government will take decisive action to tackle these threats and unite our country.
Crimes around the Sydney suburb of Woollahra once again underline that warnings of the Jewish community and the Opposition to the government have been ignored.
We saw this last week with the firebombing of Melbourne's Adass Israel Synagogue. Every Australian who looks at those images must be ashamed of the anti-Semitism that has taken hold in our country.
To see the half-burnt books, scrolls, and scriptures, and the devastation wrought on a place of peaceful worship was heartbreaking.
This disgusting act of domestic terrorism was the sadly predictable outcome of Labor’s failure to heed the warnings of the Australian Jewish community and the Coalition.
It is unsurprising that these attacks are escalating because extremists have become emboldened by more than a year of inaction and weakness from the Albanese Government on the growing anti-Semitism and extremism crisis facing Australia.
We see this in Penny Wong’s deeply regrettable decision to use this week to deliver yet another speech vilifying the Jewish state.
We need strong leadership so that people can hear the very clear message that we have no tolerance for these sorts of terrorist attacks. These actions will have consequences.
For too long, the rise of vile anti-Semitism in our country has been allowed to fester, and, if such behaviour continues to be tolerated, it will only get worse.
Enough is enough.
A Dutton Coalition Government will take decisive action to tackle these threats and unite our country by:
Creating a new, dedicated Anti-Semitism Taskforce led by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and incorporating other national security agencies including the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), the Australian Border Force (ABF) and state police;
Issuing a new Ministerial Direction to the AFP to prioritise addressing anti-Semitism, including any outstanding complaints and unsolved crimes against the Jewish community since 7 October 2023 including doxxing, public display of terrorist symbols, incitement, harassment, and other offences;
Directing the Anti-Semitism Taskforce to refer any visa holders involved in acts of anti-Semitism for immediate cancellation and deportation;
Amending the section 501 character provisions of the Migration Act to ensure this anti-Semitic conduct is captured by the law, and applies retrospectively for all acts of hatred towards the Jewish community since the 7 October 2023 terrorist attacks against Israel; and
Delivering the $32.5 million security funding package requested by the Executive Council of Australian Jewry without any strings attached, including funding armed guards at schools and synagogues – unlike the Albanese Government which has restricted funding to unarmed guards only.
Only a Coalition Government will take the strong and decisive action necessary to tackle anti-Semitism, confront extremism and make our country safe again for people of all faiths.
We must stand united with the Jewish community and make it crystal clear we do not tolerate any act of anti-Semitism in our country.
Further economic pain for Australians
At its recent meeting, the Reserve Bank left the cash rate on hold at 4.35%.
It noted “underlying inflation remains too high” and “the outlook remains uncertain”.
Governor Michele Bullock has again restated the bank’s priority is “sustainably returning inflation to target” – despite Jim Chalmers already claiming mission accomplished.
The RBA has once again seen through Dr Jim’s spin.
Hardworking Australian families suffering under the largest decline in their living standards on record can see through the spin too.
The Reserve Bank must do all the heavy lifting because the only person who believes the spin is Dr Jim.
Under Labor the economy is coming to a grinding halt, productivity is in free fall and GDP per capita has gone backwards for a record seven consecutive quarters.
Interest rates have risen 12 times since Labor came to power costing an Australian with a typical mortgage now costing an additional $50,000. Interest rates have also been cut in almost 40 countries - but not here in Australia.
GDP per capita has now gone backwards for seven consecutive quarters. This is the longest household recession on record.
This is the consequence of a Labor Government fighting everything but inflation.
In fact, in the latest data core inflation increased.
Our core inflation is higher than any advanced economy.
Homegrown inflation is now running at almost seven times imported inflation.
While interest rates are coming down in the US, UK, the whole Euro Area, Canada and in New Zealand, there is no relief in sight for Australians.
Anthony Albanese promised Australians that life would be 'cheaper' under Labor, but Australians are going backwards.
Only the Coalition can get Australia back on track.
First, we will rein in inflationary spending to take the pressure off inflation.
We will not spend $13.7 billion on corporate welfare for green hydrogen and critical minerals.
Second, we will wind-back Labor’s intervention and remove regulatory roadblocks which are suffocating the economy and stopping businesses from getting ahead.
We will condense approval processes and cut back on Labor’s red tape which is killing mining, jobs, and entrepreneurialism.
Third, we will remove the complexity and hostility of Labor’s industrial relations agenda which is putting unreasonable burdens on businesses.
We will revert to the former Coalition Government’s simple definition of a casual worker and create certainty for our 2.5 million small businesses.
Fourth, we will provide lower, simpler and fairer taxes for all – because Australians should keep more of what they earn.
Fifth, we will deliver competition policy which gives consumers and smaller businesses a fair go – not lobbyists and big corporations.
And sixth, we will ensure Australians have more affordable and reliable energy.
Our economic plan – with its tried and tested principles – will restore competitiveness and rebuild economic confidence.
Australians can't afford three more years of Labor.
