Police numbers still going down

POLICE NUMBERS

In 2020, WA Labor announced they would grow the police force by over 950 officers above attrition. In the last 4 years, we’ve seen the complete opposite, a mass exodus of police, with nearly 1000 officers resigning.

At a time when violent crime also is out of control, up 40% since this Government took office, WA Labor has failed to keep Western Australians, their businesses, their families and communities safe.

Under a Government I lead, our Western Australian police force will always be respected and strengthened to enforce the laws of Western Australia to serve the interests of our community.

This week, I was proud to launch a short video highlighting this series of failures by the Cook Labor Government. I encourage you to please view this video and share with friends and family.

OZHarvest

This week alognisde my colleague Donna Farragher, I met with the staff at OzHarvest WA in Bentley to give them a hand with their food deliveries to Western Australians in need.

It was clear from our time spent at OzHarvest with volunteers from the Salvation Army that the demand for essential food by Western Australian families, is on the rise. OzHarvest do an incredible job providing essentials for struggling Western Australia families, but there is a deficit in resources and a limited ability to transport groceries to those most in need.

It is also clear that extreme cost of living pressures presided over by the Cook Labor Government are sadly increasingly biting in our community leading to significant demands for essential goods provided by OzHarvest and other not-for-profit organisations.

I want to personally thank all  our Western Australian volunteers who are serving our community.

HORIZONTAL FALLS

Last week, I travelled to Broome with my colleague Neil Thomson, to hear firsthand, the impacts of the Cook Labor Government’s disastrous decision to shut down the Horizontal Falls experience.

Tourism operators were not afraid to show exactly how they felt, they were angry, frustrated and confused.

When Minister Whitby spoke on community radio, he went to great lengths to point out that there was “consensus” and “optimism” from the community, given my experience on the ground in Broome this week, such comments couldn’t be further from the truth.

The WA Liberals alongside former Shire President and local businessman Harold Tracey have started a petition calling the Cook Labor Government to overturn this decision. Just like the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act, support from the community has been incredible with over 6700 signatures to date.

If you are keen to sign it or share with friends and family, you can find the petition on the WA Parliament webstie under the petition section or by going to bit.ly/3TLiI0o.
